Think VAGINA MONOLOGUES meets LOVE LETTERS.
THE CIRCLE is a theatrical journey seven women take in a sister-circle.
A sister-circle is a special way women show up for one another as they navigate the choppy waters of life.
A landmark UCLA study, conducted by Dr’s. Laura Cousin Klein and Shelley Taylor, suggests what women all over the world already know –
Women relieve their stress and heal in the company of other women.
The show was awakening! What a great way to display all of the emotions, strengths and weaknesses of women in a
“safe” environment. I can’t wait until the next event! Two thumbs up! – Barbara Walker
“AHmazing!!! YOU did it again – you’re onto a brilliant model for really opening the conversation.
LOVED IT!!! This is real and not to be missed.” – Hillary Rubin

Mission and Goals for “THE CIRCLE“
The play debuted in Los Angeles, CA in March 2010 to coincide with Women’s History Month.
Our future goal would be to partner with organizations as part of their on going fundraising efforts, with added emphasis on Women’s History Month and Mother’s Day each year.
Waking Up Fabulous has plans in motion to debut this play in both theatrical venues and select settings around the country, sign up for our Waking Up Fabulous Newsletter to be updated on dates and locations.
THE CIRCLE was written and designed as a powerful experience that works without sets or costumes.
This makes it very easy to host the play and for our team to present in various cities across the country.
The Fabulous Team Behind “THE CIRCLE”
THE CIRCLE will be performed by a stellar group of seven culturally diverse professionals, ranging in age from 26 to 73.
Directing is award winning international theatre director Shirley Jo Finney, who is currently slated to direct a Broadway revival production of the Tony Award winning phenomenon For Color Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is “Enuf”. In fall of 2011, Finney will direct the world premier of a new opera in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her most recent success is her critically acclaimed and Los Angeles Times critics choice production of Emmett Till. Prior to that she was nominated, for the second time, for the prestigious Los Angeles Ovation awards, and received LA Drama Critics, Backstage West awards for her 2009 East and West Coast Premier of STICK FLY, produced in Los Angeles by Joe Stern at The Matrix Theatre.
Playwright and Executive Producer, Tina Lifford is a veteran actress . She has starred in series such as the critically acclaimed South Central and CBS’ Crises Center. She currently plays Ms. Hammond on the ABC Family hit Lincoln Heights—now going into its 5th season. Tina has starred in a number of major motion pictures working with Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis and Jennifer Garner, to name a few. Her career break was in the cutting edge film Grand Canyon, starring with Danny Glover, Alfre Woodard, Kevin Klein and Steve Martin.
THE CIRCLE had been a topic of discussion between Lifford and Finney for almost four years. Finney finally gave Lifford the challenge to stop talking about it and write it.
“This piece has a unique voice and does things in a refreshing way that speaks to women today.”
